“The last thing I’m gonna do… is lose my mind over you!” shouts the chorus of the title track (and first single) “Riot” from the latest studio effort from The Radishes. The song has a fury and intensity that doesn’t let up through all five EP tracks. Clocking in at just over eleven minutes, the EP delivers a powerful one-two punk punch that will appeal to fans of 70s and 80s punk bands like The Stooges, Agent Orange and The Heartbreakers as well as more contemporary bands like Swedish garage rockers The Hellacopters and fellow Californians Pennywise.

The Radishes - known for their machine gun delivered vocals, brazen guitars and frenetic drums - don’t disappoint on “Riot”. The release is loud and proud, with a raw, yet finely tuned production style.  After working with Wayne Kramer (MC5), Paul Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks) and Rey Washam (Ministry, Scratch Acid) on their last EP “Strychnine,” The Radishes have now settled into a new lineup comprised of vocalist and guitarist Paul Stinson (also of The Stripminers), guitarist Jason Fessel, bassist John Dumont and drummer Randy Leasure.

With dramatic flare and succinct, staccato delivery, Stinson’s vocals and catchy lyrics mesh brilliantly with the brash, abrasive mix of wailing guitars and angry drums. This is a DIY punk record that will remind the listener of what was so great about punk in the first place.

Other tracks include “Gotta Gun”, with its danceable surf-rock-on-speed bass line that should keep crowds pogo-ing and moshing with zeal. And the gazillion + BPM “Last Call” awesomely sums up the angry, defeated feeling of arriving at a bar just as it’s shutting down. The band’s take on Agent Orange’s “Blood Stains” is another fierce rocker with the punk anthem shouts of, “Blood stains, speed kills, fast cars, cheap thrills… I lost my sense, I lost control, I lost my mind!”

Self-produced by Stinson, the album is slightly more raw and gritty than past releases, yet with a still polished production that rewards detailed, repeated listening.

New Radishes EP "Strychnine" Comes out 4/15/08!!

April 15, 2008 is the official release date for the Radishes' new EP "Strychnine." The 4-song disc features legendary underground bassist Paul Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, USSA), iconic indie drummer Rey Washam (Steve Albini, Scratch Acid, Ministry) and guitarist Wayne Kramer of seminal proto-punk Detroit rockers the MC5. Wayne Kramer's blistering guitar lines on the Lennon cover 'I Found Out' have fans declaring The Radishes' version as superior to the original even though it was recorded live on the first take. The almost eight minute track has the cacophony of Sonic Youth and the sludge of The Melvins while retaining the raw emotion of early solo Lennon. It has also become a favorite at live shows. Produced and mixed by Scrote Get it now on the myspace page, through CD Baby, iTunes, blah, blah, blah....

Fab Mab Reopening

The Radishes were lucky enough to be the first band to take the stage at the grand reopening of the fabled Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco. Check out the SF Weekly article at:

Wayne Kramer + Paul Barker + Rey Washam + The Radishes = ?

The Radishes are very excited to have had the opportunity to work with Wayne Kramer of the MC5 on their latest EP, tentatively titled Strychnine. Wayne was gracious enough to sit in on the sessions (which also included Paul Barker on bass and Rey Washam on drums) at the Carriage House in L.A. Keep your ears out for Wayne's unmistakable playing on the new Rads song "Strychnine" and a Melvins-esque cover of John Lennon's "I Found Out."

The Radishes are very pleased to announce that they will be going back into the studio in August with Paul Barker and Rey Washam, the rhythm section of legendary industrial band Ministry. Paul and Rey are also both legends in their own right. In addition to being a core member of Ministry for the entirety of its dark and heavy period, bassist, engineer and producer Barker is also a founding member of Revolting Cocks with Al Jorgensen and Jello Biafra, has also been a key player in seminal underground bands like Lard and 1000 Homo Djs, and does engineering and production work on his own for bands like I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness (check out Drummer Rey Washam has also attained cult status for his work with Scratch Acid (one of Rad Paul's faves), Rapeman, Ministry, Helios Creed and many others (check out Scrote will be wearing the most hats yet on this project, playing guitar, mixing and producing, all while editing the Killers & Romans video. We suspect that he is actually a robot. The Radishes/Ministry collaboration will probably involve 2 or 3 new Radishes originals as well as a twisted cover of John Lennon's "I Found Out." More news to come soon . . . .
